This policy explains what information TagVolt collects, why we use it, and the choices you have. It keeps two kinds of information apart: information about you as a TagVolt user or website visitor, and the event data that flows through our customers’ tracking servers. The short summary under each heading helps you scan. The full text is what applies.
Who this covers
TagVolt is a service of SEM REVIVAL, LLC. This policy covers our website, our app and the tracking servers we run for customers. It also explains the age limit.
TagVolt is a service of SEM REVIVAL, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Our registered address is 2810 North Church Street, Wilmington, DE 19802, USA. In this policy, “TagVolt,” “we,” “us” and “our” mean SEM REVIVAL, LLC.
This policy covers:
- our website, tagvolt.io, including its email forms, the Tracking Checker and the “Ask AI” box in our docs;
- the TagVolt app at app.tagvolt.io; and
- the tracking servers (containers) we run for our customers.
It applies to our customers and their team members, to visitors to our website, and to anyone who emails us. Section 04 explains how we handle data about people who visit our customers’ websites. This policy does not cover other websites we link to.
You must be 18 or older to create an account or use TagVolt’s tools. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 for our own use. Customers must not send children’s data through TagVolt (see section 04).
Information involved
We collect account and login details, limited billing details, what you enter in our website forms and tools, emails you send us, and technical details about how our website and app are used. Section 04 covers customer event data.
Account details. When you sign up for the app, we collect your name, email address and password. You need to give these to create an account. Adding a company name is optional. You log in with your email address and password. You can also add a profile photo or a workspace logo. Anyone who has the link to a profile photo or logo can view it.
Team details. If a teammate invites you to a workspace, we receive your email address from them and send you an invite email.
Login records. Each time you log in, we save your IP address, the country it comes from, and your browser and device.
Billing details. Stripe handles payments. We never see your full card number. We keep your plan, your billing status and your usage counts.
Website forms. If you enter your email address in a form on our website, we save the email address, which form you used and when. The homepage form also takes you to our app’s sign-up page with your email address in the web address.
Tracking Checker. When you use the Tracking Checker, we collect the website address you enter and save the report. We do not save your IP address as it is. We keep only a coded (hashed) version, to limit how many scans can be run. Anyone who has a report’s link can open that report.
“Ask AI” in our docs. When you ask a question, we send it to an AI provider to write the answer. Our website does not store your question. Our website’s code keeps your IP address only in memory, to limit how many questions can be asked.
Emails with us. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write.
Technical details. Our website uses Sentry to catch errors. Sentry receives the page address, your browser, the page you came from and the recent steps before an error. It also gets a small signal on each page load, to count error rates. Our servers and hosting providers keep technical logs to run and secure TagVolt. These logs can include IP addresses, the pages requested and, in some cases, email addresses, such as when you sign up. Our website also uses analytics and advertising tools, and the app uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights. Section 05 explains these tools.
Customer event data. Our customers’ tracking servers handle data about people who visit our customers’ websites. Section 04 explains this data.
Why information is used
We use information to run, secure and bill for TagVolt, to help you, to send emails, and to measure and show our ads. We do not sell personal information for money.
We use information to:
- create and run your account and workspace, and provide the service you choose;
- send service emails, such as email verification, password reset codes, team invites, billing notices and alerts about your tracking servers;
- keep accounts safe, for example by emailing you when your account is used to log in from a new country;
- bill you, count your usage against your plan limits, and keep the records that tax law requires;
- answer your questions and fix problems;
- keep TagVolt running well and protect it from misuse;
- send your Tracking Checker report (if you asked for one), and product news and offers, to people who give us their email address on our website;
- send marketing emails to app users who switch them on in their Notifications settings;
- answer questions asked in the docs “Ask AI” box; and
- measure how our website and app are used and how fast our app loads, measure our ads, and show our ads to people who have visited our website.
We use customer event data only to run the service, as section 04 explains. We do not sell personal information for money.
Some things happen automatically, such as alerts about logins from a new country, and pausing tracking servers when usage goes over a plan limit or a renewal payment is not made. We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly serious effects.
If EU or UK data protection law applies to you, we rely on these legal grounds:
- our contract with you: to provide your account and the service, bill you and send service emails;
- our legitimate interests: to keep TagVolt secure and working, fix problems, answer questions, run the Tracking Checker and the docs “Ask AI” box, send team invites, and measure how the app is used;
- legal duties: such as keeping tax records; and
- your consent: for analytics and advertising cookies on our website where the law requires it, and for marketing emails. If you give us your email address in a form on our website, you give your consent through the short notice under the form (“We’ll email you about TagVolt. Unsubscribe anytime. See our Privacy Policy.”). App users give their consent when they switch on marketing emails in their Notifications settings.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in each of these emails, or write to support@tagvolt.io.
Customer event data
Our customers decide what their tracking collects and why. We handle that data for them and use it only to run the service. We never sell it or use it for our own ads.
TagVolt customers run server-side tracking for their own websites on tracking servers (containers) that we host. When someone visits a customer’s website, data about that visit can pass through the customer’s tracking server. We call this customer event data.
The customer decides what its tracking collects and why. For this data, we act for the customer. The customer is responsible for its own tracking and for following the laws that apply to it.
For each request to a customer’s tracking server, we save:
- the time of the request;
- the address of the request, with parts that look like personal details, such as email addresses, phone numbers or names, hidden (the rest is kept);
- the page the visitor was on when the request was sent, with the same parts hidden;
- the visitor’s browser and device details (the full “user agent”);
- the visitor’s full IP address, which the app hides on screen by default;
- the country and city, worked out from the IP address; and
- an encrypted copy of the request’s full web address, headers and cookies. Only passwords and similar secrets are removed from this copy. Other personal data in it is not hidden.
We do not save the body (payload) of requests unless the customer turns on Outgoing Logs or a test tool. Event details sent inside the web address are saved as part of the request address and in the encrypted copy described above. We also count requests for billing.
Raw traffic file. Our tracking servers also write a raw traffic file, for all plans. For each request, it holds the full web address (nothing hidden), the visitor’s IP address and browser, the page the visitor was on and the cookies sent with the request. We delete this data after 30 days.
Optional features. Some features save more data, but only when a customer switches them on. Outgoing Logs save what the tracking server sends to other platforms, including some request and response contents. Visitor details in them, such as email address, phone number, name, address and IP address, are stored encrypted, and only workspace Owners and Admins can open them. Log Export sends logs, which can include full IP addresses, to the customer’s own cloud storage. Event counting counts event names only. The Custom Loader’s recovery check keeps a coded (hashed) IP address for 2 days and saves a small marker in the visitor’s browser for that browsing session.
We use customer event data only to run the service: to run it, bill for it, keep it healthy and fix problems. We never sell it, and we never use it for TagVolt’s own ads.
Customers must not send sensitive data through TagVolt, such as health data, children’s data, passwords or full card numbers. Our Terms explain this rule.
If you visited a website that uses TagVolt and have a question about your data, please contact that website’s owner first. They control their tracking.
Cookies and communications
Our website uses analytics and advertising tools from Google and Meta, with a cookie banner where the law requires a choice. The app uses one login cookie. You can stop marketing emails at any time.
Our website. Our website uses Google Analytics, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and the Google Ads tag. These tools use cookies and similar technologies to measure visits to our website, to measure our ads, and to show our ads to people who have visited our website. Where the law requires a choice, our cookie banner lets you accept or refuse these tools. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Sharing with ad platforms. Through these tools, online identifiers (such as cookie IDs and your IP address) and information about how you use our website may be shared with Google and Meta. Some US state laws call this “sharing” for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Section 09 explains how to opt out.
Our app. The app uses one login cookie, which keeps you signed in. It expires after 7 days without use. The app also saves a few settings in your browser, such as your light or dark theme and the last workspace you opened. The app uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to measure page visits and page speed.
Customers’ tracking. Each customer decides which cookies its own tracking sets on its website.
Emails. If you give us your email address on our website, we use it to send your Tracking Checker report (if you asked for one) and product news and offers. App users get marketing emails only if they switch them on in their Notifications settings. You can stop marketing emails at any time: use the unsubscribe link in each of these emails, or write to support@tagvolt.io. We still send the service emails you need, such as password reset codes and billing notices.
When information is shared
We share information with the service providers that help us run TagVolt, within your workspace team, with Google and Meta through the analytics and advertising tools on our website, and when the law requires it. We do not sell personal information for money.
Service providers. These are the main companies that handle information for us so we can run TagVolt:
- Hetzner hosts the servers behind our app, our main database and all customer tracking servers.
- Cloudflare stores our database backups (Cloudflare R2) and runs our domain name system (DNS).
- Vercel hosts our website and serves the app’s pages. It also provides Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights in the app, and its AI Gateway passes docs “Ask AI” questions to AI providers.
- Stripe processes payments. We send Stripe the Owner’s email address and the workspace name. We never see full card numbers.
- Resend sends the app’s emails and Tracking Checker reports, and delivers messages from our website’s contact form to our support inbox.
- An email service provider sends emails to people who give us their email address on our website.
- Google Workspace runs our support inbox (support@tagvolt.io).
- Let’s Encrypt issues the security (HTTPS) certificates for tracking domains.
- Neon runs our website’s database, which stores website form emails and Tracking Checker reports.
- Google Cloud runs Tracking Checker scans.
- Sentry receives error reports from our website.
- A cookie banner tool runs the cookie banner on our website.
- Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude) answer questions asked in the docs “Ask AI” box.
Analytics and advertising. Google and Meta receive information from the tools on our website, as section 05 explains.
Your team. Members of a workspace, including Guests (who can only view), can see each other’s name, email address, photo, role and join date, and the workspace activity. Workspace roles are Owner, Admin, Member and Guest.
Where customers send data. A customer’s tracking server sends data to the places the customer chooses, such as analytics or advertising platforms. Those platforms handle that data under their own terms.
Other cases. We may share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone’s safety, with our professional advisers, or as part of a sale or merger of our business.
We do not sell personal information for money.
Where information is handled
The servers behind our app, our main database and all customer tracking servers are in Germany. Our website and some providers are in the USA, and our servers are accessed from the USA.
We serve customers around the world, so your information may be handled outside the country where you live.
Germany and the EU. The servers behind our app, our main database and all customer tracking servers run with Hetzner in Falkenstein, Germany. Our database backups are stored with Cloudflare R2 in the EU.
USA. Our website runs on Vercel in the USA. Its database (Neon), its error reports (Sentry) and Tracking Checker scans (Google Cloud) are also in the USA.
Access from the USA. TagVolt’s owner works from the United States and accesses our servers and database from there. This means information stored in Germany is also accessed from the USA.
Other providers. Other providers listed in section 06 may handle information in other countries.
Data protection laws in these countries may differ from the laws where you live. Section 08 explains how we protect your information.
Retention and protection
The list below shows how long we keep the main kinds of information. We protect information with encryption, hashing, HTTPS, backups and limited access.
How long we keep the main kinds of information:
- Account data: while your account is open. After an account is closed, we delete its account data within 90 days. Backup copies may remain for up to 30 more days.
- Other account records, such as login and security records, team activity, invites and copies of some emails we send you: while your account is open, then deleted with your account data (see above).
- Emails you send to support@tagvolt.io: kept while you have an account, then deleted within 90 days after it closes. If you do not have an account, we delete them within 90 days after we finish helping you.
- Billing records: as long as tax law requires.
- Detailed request logs from tracking servers: 7 days on the Powerhouse plan and 3 days on other paid plans. We keep no detailed request logs for the Free plan. The raw traffic file below applies to all plans, including Free.
- Raw traffic file on tracking servers: 30 days.
- Hourly request totals: 90 days.
- Daily and monthly traffic totals for a tracking server: until the tracking server or its workspace is deleted.
- Event name counts (only if a customer turns on event counting): 90 days.
- Logs of a deleted tracking server: when a customer deletes a tracking server (container), we delete its logs from our database at once. Copies in the raw traffic file and in backups are deleted within 30 days.
- Database backups: 30 days.
- Website form emails: until you unsubscribe.
- Tracking Checker reports: 30 days.
- Coded (hashed) IP addresses used to limit Tracking Checker scans: up to 24 hours.
- Coded (hashed) IP addresses from the Custom Loader’s recovery check: 2 days.
- Docs “Ask AI” questions: our website does not store them.
How we protect information:
- The copy of each tracking request’s full address, headers and cookies is stored encrypted.
- Passwords and password reset codes are stored in hashed (scrambled) form.
- Our website, app and tracking servers use HTTPS. Tracking domains use security certificates from Let’s Encrypt.
- The app hides visitor IP addresses on screen by default.
- We email you when someone logs in to your account from a new country.
- Only TagVolt’s owner can access our servers and database.
- We keep backups of our database and of customer tracking servers.
No system is completely secure. Please use a strong password and keep it private.
If a data breach affects our customers’ information, we will tell the affected customers without undue delay.
